Hundreds Of Turkeys Die In Charlotte Tractor-Trailer Rollover | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A tractor-trailer accident in Charlotte on February 3, 2010, has North Carolina police looking for a reason for the truck crash and cleaning up hundreds of turkey carcasses.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Old Pageland Monroe Road near Charlotte was the scene of a big rig rollover at just after 1 am in the morning. The truck was carrying almost 1,000 turkeys, half of whom died when the tractor-trailer flipped. The driver suffered minor injuries in the NC truck wreck and was transported to a local hospital. The road was shut down as officers collected traffic accident evidence.

NC police say that the tractor-trailer accident was initiated by a wet spot in the road that caused the driver to lose control of his big rig. The commercial truck crash is under investigation.
