I-81 Bus Crash In Virginia Leads to Multiple Injuries | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

What Happened:

A truck driver was switching lanes on Interstate 81 (I-81) when he crashed into a commercial passenger bus. The force of the crash pushed both vehicles into the median. According to WRIC, the passengers on the bus were forced to escape through emergency windows as the truck blocked the bus’ door.

The accident sent five passengers to the hospital with injuries. The driver of the bus suffered serious, potentially life-altering injuries. The truck driver is being charged with reckless driving.

The Virginia Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

The injured victims should contact a Virginia personal injury lawyer to discuss their legal options. Just because the driver of the truck is being charged with reckless driving does not preclude the victims from seeking restitution through a civil claim. Though, the victims needs to take action sooner rather than later for two reasons: (1) the statute of limitations in Virginia is only two years and (2) it is likely that the truck driver’s insurance company is already trying to figure out ways to reduce or deny potential injury claims.
