I-64 Car Wreck Leads to Injuries, Loss of Life | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A Charlottesville, Virginia (VA) man lost his life and a Staunton, VA man was injured following a four-car crash on Interstate 64 (I-64).

VA Police believe the car crash happened when the driver of a Camry heading westbound on Afton Mountain tried to change lanes and wound up sideswiping a Ford SUV, according to nbc29.com. The Camry then went over the median and sideswiped an Acura and slammed into a Volvo head-on.

The occupants of the Ford SUV and Acura were uninjured. The driver of the Volvo was the Staunton man and he was airlifted to the University of Virginia Medical Center.

This serious car wreck highlights the ramifications of suddenly changing lanes on a highway. Even a slight miscalculation either in timing or location of the lane change can wind up resulting in a major crash with injuries and lives lost.
