I-66 Hit-and-Run Accident Leads to Death of Young Man | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Daniel Park of Herndon, Virginia (VA), was the victim of a hit-and-run accident that took his life. He was riding with his friends in a BMW on I-66 in Fairfax, when the car pulled over. Park left the car and was hit by a taxi cab.

Park was pronounced dead at the scene. He was only 23 years old.

To make matters even worse, the at-fault taxi cab driver fled the scene of the accident. This is not only illegal but morally despicable.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Park’s friends and family. They’re probably experiencing a combination of sadness and rage. Losing someone close to you is always heartbreaking, but knowing that the driver who caused the death bolted the scene without any regard for the victim has to be infuriating.

Virginia police said they believe they identified the at-fault driver of the cab. Based on evidence found at the scene, investigators believe the taxi involved in the accident was a white Ford Crown Victoria, according to wtop.com.

The crash remains under investigation.
