Police have said that charges are pending following a wreck with injury that occurred in Apex, North Carolina yesterday morning. Authorities say several people were injured when a Honda Civil and a Ford pickup truck collided around 10:30 in the morning. The accident happened near the intersection of Optimist Farm and Bells Lake roads.
A North Carolina Highway Patrol spokesperson said that a 19-year-old in the Civic was headed west on Optimist Farm Road when he ran a stop sign and crashed into two passing vehicles, including the Ford pickup.
The 19-year-old was taken to WakeMed Hospital with life-threatening injuries while the as yet unnamed driver of the Ford truck was treated for less serious injuries.
Police have said that the investigation is ongoing and that criminal charges for running the stop sign are pending.
The North Carolina Injury Attorney’s Perspective:
This crash demonstrates just how dangerous something so small as running a stop sign can be. Other drivers don’t stand a chance when a fast moving object slams into them unexpectedly. Though the man responsible for the crash has not yet been charged, police say criminal action is pending.
