Man Killed in Newport News, VA Hit-and-Run Accident | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

There are some henious types of car accidnets — drunk driving car wrecks, texting while driving car wrecks, crashes caused by drivers asleep at the wheel — but one that is especiually awful is a hit-and-run car accident. Why? Because not only was the at-fault driver irresponsible in causing the accident, but the driver then makes the conscious decision to leave the victim in the road to fend for themselves. In many instances, this decision has tragic consequences.

For example, a man was found dead in the median of the 9200 block of Warwick Boulevard in Newport News, Virginia (VA). A city engineering employee found the body. Reports indicate a 2000 Buick Ultra suspected to be involved in the hit-and-run accident was found less than a mile away on North Avenue, according to the Daily Press. The vehicle was reported stolen and had extensive damage. Hopefully, police will be able to track down the at-fault driver.

If the driver is apprehended, the family of the victim should speak to a Virginia wrongful death lawyer to discuss their legal options. A wrongful death claim allows the family to get some semblance of justice for the loved one they lost due to the irresponsible, reckless behavior of another person.
