Man Pleads Guilty to Fatal Virginia Beach Crash | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A 20-year-old man in Virginia Beach responsible for the death of a passenger and severe injuries to another, pled guilty to causing the wreck.

According to WAVY-TV 10, the at-fault driver was drunk when the crash occurred. The driver visited multiple bars and showed a fake ID in order to buy drinks for himself and his three friends. After leaving a bar and visiting a 7-11 convenience store, the group crashed when the driver was unable to negotiate a curve on West Neck Road and ran his Nissan Xterra into a ditch before crashing into trees.

One passenger was killed instantly. Another experienced broken ribs and a collapsed lung. The third passenger left the site of the accident after first checking himself for injuries.

The driver faced charges for DUI, involuntary manslaughter, display of a fake license and purchase and possession of alcohol by a minor under the age of 21. He will be sentenced for those charges in May 2012.
