Man Struck, Killed by Vehicle in Hampton, VA | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A man has died after being struck by a vehicle in Hampton, Virginia (VA). The 60-year-old pedestrian was attempting to cross Victory Boulevard around 6:45 in the evening of January 30, 2012. He was hit by a Yellow Cab Company 2008 Chevy Uplander. According to the Virginian-Pilot, the man was rushed to Riverside Regional Medical Center but died shortly after his arrival.

The pedestrian lived on Victory Boulevard, so it is easy to imagine he was just minutes from home. This news must be devastating for his family. As Vrginia car accident and wrongfu death attorneys, we send our condolences to them during this difficult time.

At this time of year pedestrians are at great risk for getting into a car accident. Many drivers are still commuting home from work at the hour when this fatal wreck occurred, and those drivers are not always paying close attention to pedestrians attempting to cross the street. Sadly, more accidents are claiming the lives of local pedestrians: the prevous day, a young woman was also killed in Hampton after being struck by a vehicle.
