Mom and Daughter Hit, Injured By Car In Winston-Salem | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A mother and her 15 month old daughter were heading home when they were struck by a vehicle on Thurmond Street. The driver who struck the victims was estimated to be going 55-60 miles per hour, according to WFMY News 2.

Both the mother and daughter were taken toWakeForest Baptist Hospital with injuries. The particular area where the victims were struck is the subject of neighborhood scrutiny.

There have been deaths in the same spot where the victims were hit and injured. Neighbors are now calling for action to be taken by the Department of Transportation.

Just because the road has been the scene of past accidents does not shield the at-fault driver from liability, if they were operating their vehicle negligently.

If the driver was negligent, the injured mother should consider contacting a personal injury lawyer in North Carolina (NC) to discuss her legal options.

Our firm understands how serious pedestrian accidents can be. For example, we represented an injured client who was hurt while walking in a marked crosswalk. The at-fault driver failed to see the plaintiff and hit him seriously injuring his right leg. In fact, our client suffered  a severe fracture. We recognized the severity of the accident and were able to secure a $227,000 settlement for our client.
