What Happened:
While traveling on Candlers Mountain Road in near Monroe, Virginia, a Ford Taurus ran off the road and slammed into a tree. The crash killed one 21 year-old passenger at the scene, and a 19 year-old passenger died of her injuries nine days later. Both passengers were not wearing seat belts and were ejected.
Virginia State Police are still searching for the driver of the vehicle, according to NewsAdvance.com.
The Virginia Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:
We wish to express our sincere condolences to the families of the two passengers who died in this tragic accident. While the driver of the car has not yet been identified, the families should speak to a personal injury lawyer soon. The driver most likely will be located eventually, and criminal charges could be filed. Note that the initiation of a criminal case never precludes families from seeking financial restitution in a civil claim.
