The Virginia Personal Injury Lawyers’ Perspective

As gas prices continue to rise, millions of Americans are looking to gas-friendly mopeds and scooters. These moped and scooter drivers may not face the same dangers of highway driving, but face dangers of their own. One major reason has to deal with drivers who fail to see or accommodate them on the road. One misconception is that mopeds do not belong on the road. If the highway or roadway speed limit is 35 MPH or less mopeds have the same rights and are allowed to drive just as a car would. This means on highways of 35 MPH or greater a moped operator must adhere to the laws of operating a motorcycle. When an accident happens, moped and scooter drivers often end up seriously injured or killed. Unfortunately scooters have a bad reputation of zipping in and out through traffic and in accidents involving cars and scooters, unfortunately, police and witnesses are often biased against the scooter operator. Even when the liability may be clear, the case may lean against the person operating the scooter. This is why it is important to have a Virginia (VA) personal injury lawyer on your side that has represented victims in moped accident cases. Our lawyers have the knowledge, reputation, and resources to conduct a thorough investigation through the assistance of qualified accident reconstruction and safety experts. This is beneficial in showing insurance companies or judges and juries who is truly to blame for the accident.
