Motor Bike Rider in Petersburg, VA Killed in Accident with School Bus | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A Petersburg, Virginia (VA) man was killed Tuesday afternoon after his motorcycle hit a Petersburg Public school bus, according to NBC 12 in Richmond.

Ron Brown, 38, died from injuries he received in the collision at the intersection of Dupuy Road and Pleasants Lane at approximately 2:33 p.m. Tuesday, the report said.

None of the 21 students, who all attend Vernon Johns Middle or Petersburg High School, were injured in the motorcycle-bus accident.

The wreck is still under investigation by the Petersburg Police and further details have not been released at this time.

Many questions need to be answered about this tragic crash. Was the bus driver distracted? Was there a mechanical issue with either vehicle? The motor bike-bus wreck occurred at an intersection so does that mean one of the vehicles may have run a stop sign or made an illegal turn? We’ll have to wait and see what the accident report reveals.

Students were transferred to another bus shortly after the accident. School officials will have grief counselors on hand at both schools to speak with students who witnessed the accident.
