Motor Bike Rider Injured in Accident Involving a Tractor-Trailer | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A motor bike rider hailing from Chester, West Virginia (WV), was enjoying a day out on his motorcycle when his life was turned upside down. He was waiting in the westbound lane of US 30 when a tractor-trailer came around a right-hand bend in the road and didn’t stop before hitting a vehicle which caused the vehicle to hit the motor bike rider.

Reports indicate that the accident resulted in the motor bike rider suffering “serious injuries,” according to the Beaver County Times. The full extent of his injuries remain unknown, but considering he was trapped underneath the car, it is likely that his injuries will require extensive rehabilitation.

The tractor-trailer driver was charged with failing to drive at a safe speed, according to the police report.

It is so frustrating to read about commercial truck drivers failing to operate their vehicles with the upmost concern for safety. Tractor-trailer drivers must realize that they are operating massive vehicles that routinely inflict major damage on other vehicles when they are involved in accidents. Being cautious and following the speed limit while coming around a bend is absolutely essential.

Victims of accidents involving large commercial trucks should consult with a truck accident injury attorney. In many instances, trucking companies try to avoid liability by blanketing an accident scene with adjusters and making quick repairs to the tractor-trailer involved in the accident in the hopes of avoiding liability.
