Four Car Accidents on I-77 in Charlotte, NC, Leave Several Injured | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Four nearly simultaneous crashes all but shut down I-77 through Charlotte, North Carolina (NC), during evening rush hour on October 19, 2011. Two accidents occurred in the northbound lanes between the exits for Remount Road and the John Belk Freeway and left two people injured. A third accident with injuries occurred near Tyvola Road, and traffic became even more hazardous when police arrested and charged a burglary suspect who got into a wreck after leading officers on a brief chase.

These accidents remind us that many individuals on the roads do not operate their cars safely and that damage to others often results from such negligence. The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles allows drivers to maintain their licenses as long as they continue to drive safely
