According to firefighters in Richmond, North Carolina (NC), a man’s hand was mangled after he was hit by an Amtrak train at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2011.
Captain William M. Martin stated that according to a conductor, the unidentified man was believed to be homeless, and the train was traveling at roughly 12 miles an hour at the time of the NC accident. The victim was taken to the VCU Medical Center for emergency medical treatment.
