New Nursing Home Patients Fall Frequently, Study Shows

In a new post to our firm’s VA-NC Medical Surgery Malpractice Blog, attorney Mark F. reports on a study showing that 20 percent of patients experience a fall within the first month of being admitted to a long-term care facility. He notes that nursing homes employing fewer certified nursing assistants had the highest number of patient falls. My mother has fallen 4 times that resulted in injuries and hospital stays. Not counting the many in-between times with other than a skin tear. She has Alzh. and I have done everything in my power to try to get something done to help prevent the falls or at least lessen the chance of injury from them, with no result.
