North Carolina Trucker Blames Steering Malfunction On Big Rig Rollover | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Police say that an estimated $200,000 of damage was done by a North Carolina truck driver involved in a serious big rig accident this morning. The accident took place at around 6 am and just before the morning commute on I-65 when the truck, which was carrying 16 tons of clothing, turned on its side and left t-shirts covering the interstate.

The truck was driven by 50-year-old Jorge O. Acevedo of North Carolina who claims that he felt something go wrong with the steering in the moments before the tractor-trailer crash. According to police investigating the accident, the truck left the right lane, hit a construction site sign, and then rolled over in the middle of the interstate.

Traffic was backed up this morning though police are waving cars through the emergency shoulder. The entire highway may have to be closed as authorities move the truck off of the roadway.
