One Dead After Accident Involving Cab in Jacksonville, NC | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A taxi cab passenger lost her life in Jacksonville, North Carolina (NC), when the cab driver of the cab turned directly into the path of a Chevy Silverado on North Plain Road. Initially ejected from the taxi, the woman was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was also injured, and the driver of the cab has been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and unsafe movement violation.

My thoughts are with the family of the victim at what is surely a difficult time. The average taxi cab passenger expects the driver to be an expert who places the utmost importance on safety. The fact that this cabbie apparently chose to make an unsafe turn put his life and the life of his passenger on the line. His careless decision did, indeed, cost a woman her life.

As a North Carolina car accident attorney, it pains me to see such a thoughtless person work professionally as a driver. Who knows how many other accidents he may have been involved with? The family of the victim should consider consulting with an attorney who will investigate this driver’s experience and fight for justice in the courtroom.
