The crash occurred near General Booth Boulevard. The crash is still being investigated.

At this time, it is not clear why the above tragic crash occurred, but it has a familiar ring to it. We are car accident personal injury attorneys in Virginia, and we have worked on many fatal car accidents where distracted driving was the culprit.

According to the National Highway Safety Association, over 6,000 people died due to distracted driving in 2008. The University of Utah did a study that found that talking on a cell phone can reduce your reaction times as much or worse than having a blood alcohol level of .08. Any type of distraction behind the wheel – including cell phones, radios or conversations with passengers – can lead to fatal consequences.

Anyone who has been in a car accident that may have been caused by a distracted driver should read our in depth report on Common Factors Leading to Distracted Driving.
