Passenger Killed in Car Crash on Highway 17 in Myrtle Beach, SC | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A 27-year-old passenger lost her life in a major accident on N. Kings Highway/Highway 17 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (SC). According to WMBF, the driver of the 1997 Bonneville in which the woman was riding went off the side of the road to the right, came back the other way and crossed into oncoming traffic before going airborne and crashing into a utility pole. The at-fault driver also died.

The passenger was was wearing a seat belt, but the impact was so forceful that he safety restraint could not protect her from fatal injuries. Police do not yet know what caused the driver to veer off the road. Was he distracted? Intoxicated? Was there a mechanical issue? We will have to wait and see what the accident report reveals.
