Pedestrian in North Carolina Killed By State Trooper’s Car

What Happened:

A North Carolina Highway patrolman was driving north on NC 242 near Salemburg when his cruiser slammed into an 80 year-old man who was crossing the street.

The highway patrolman will be kept on administrative duty pending the completion of the investigation of the accident. No charges have been filed at this time, according to Hamptonroads.com.

The North Carolina Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

We are saddened to hear of the death of the elderly gentleman in this unfortunate accident. While no charges have yet been filed by police on the case, the family should speak to a North Carolina personal injury lawyer. The highway patrolman in the case may have been speeding or otherwise not obeying traffic laws, and you could be entitled to financial restitution from the state of North Carolina.
