Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Accident on McCormick Street in Greensboro | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

John Gilikin (named in digtriad.com article) was walking on McCormick Street in Greensboro, North Carolina (NC) when his life was turned upside down. Mr. Gilikin was hit by a car at the intersection of McCormick Street and Marion Street. Mr. Gilikin is currently in critical condition at a local hospital, as of the date of this posting. Let’s hope he pulls through and is able to pick up the pieces of his life after this awful collision.  Police have determined that the driver, a 19-year-old male, was driving down McCormick Street when he hit Mr. Gilikin, according to digtriad.com. Police continues to investigate this awful incident. Unfortunately, pedestrian accident injuries are quite common in North Carolina. In fact, each year over 2,000 pedestrians are involved in collisions with motor vehicles, according to the Highway Safety Research Center. Of those over 2,000 pedestrians, roughly 150 to 200 pedestrians are killed, and 500 pedestrians wind up suffering serious injuries.​
