Pittsylvania County Man Slams Into School Bus Injuring 8 Children | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

What Happened:

While driving on Martinsville Highway (Route 58) in Pittsylvania County, Virginia (VA), a Ford Fusion slammed into the rear end of a school bus that was pulling onto the road after it picked up students. The careless crash into the bus by the driver of the car sent eight children to Danville Regional Medical Center complaining of neck and back pain.

According to WSET, the driver of the Fusion has been charged with reckless driving and not having a driver’s license.

The Virginia Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

The driver who reportedly caused this foolish accident has been charged with reckless driving, and driving without a driver’s license. If convicted, the driver faces a Class 1 misdemeanor under Virginia law.

The families of the eight injured children should strongly consider speaking with a Virginia personal injury lawyer to determine if their children are entitled to compensation for their injuries. The children’s neck and back pain could be symptoms of more serious injuries. The driver is facing criminal charges, but this in no way precludes the families of the children from filing a civil claim and seeking compensation.
