Rear End Truck-Van Wreck in Montgomery County Leads to Loss of Life of Young Girl | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

The driver of a pickup truck was traveling down Interstate 81 (I-81) in Montgomery County, Virginia (VA) when traffic stopped up ahead. The driver apparently did not see the traffic or was driving at such a speed that he did not allow time to come to a proper stop. As a result, a young girl is dead.

The truck driver swerved into the other lane to avoid the traffic but wound up rear ending a minivan which had a 12-year-old girl inside. The girl in the minivan had her seat belt on, but the impact of the crash was severe.

The girl was rushed to New River Valley Medical Center in Radford, VA but it was too late. She died due to her injuries, according to wdbj7.com.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the family of the young girl. Losing a loved one in a sudden, but preventable, wrongful death accident is one of the worst things anyone can go through in life. The child’s family is probably grappling with the pain of loss and an incredible sadness a the hole in their hearts.

The at-fault truck driver was charged with reckless driving. A civil claim against the insurance company for the motorist who made the bad choices causing the tragedy is justified and may help bring closure and a sense of some justice being served.
