SC Woman on Bicycle Killed by Truck Driver | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Many people may not realize it, but South Carolina (SC) accidents involving trucks are often much more devastating than those involving only cars. Take a look at this case.

According to the Marion County, SC, Coroner’s Office, a woman has died Tuesday afternoon, April 26, 2011, after a pick-up truck struck the bicycle she was riding.

The 61-year-old Marion resident was riding her three-wheeled bicycle along Highway 76 in Marion when the truck hit her, killing her upon impact. No autopsy is planned. It is unknown, at this time, if the victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the SC truck accident, but it may have come off upon impact. Highway 76 was closed the day of the SC truck accident so that Marion Police and the SC Highway Patrol’s team could conduct the investigation. It is unknown if the pick-up truck driver currently faces charges in the victim’s death.

There can be no doubt as to the type of damage that trucks, both small and large, cause in the event of an accident. For instance, see what happens when an enormous truck crashes in this video.
