Springfield, Virginia Man Killed by Amtrak Train | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

What Happened:

A Springfield, Virginia man apparently was walking across the railroad tracks near Alexandria when he was hit by an Amtrak train. The 64 year-old man died at the scene.

According to state police, it was a Virginia Railway Express train that hit the man. It was on the Mannasas, Virginia line near Backlick Road. The train was going from New York to New Orleans with over 200 people on board.

Service was disrupted on the train line for several hours while the investigation was underway.
