Suffolk Man Dies Due to Surgical Complications After Being Hit in Farm Fresh Parking Lot | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

James Richard Brown was walking out of a Farm Fresh in Suffolk, Virginia (VA) on December 21, just four days before Christmas, when his life took a dramatic turn for the worse. A car hit Mr. Brown resulting in a broken hip and a minor head injury. He was taken to the hospital and died due to complications from hip surgery, according to The Virginian-Pilot

My deepest sympathies go out to his friends and family. He was 91 years old and it must have been difficult to have this terrible event take place during the holidays.

Most parking lot accidents are usually minor in damage and scope since a majority of vehicles are operating at a slow speed. However, as evident above, there are instances when these types of accidents take a tragic turn.

The best advice is to be extra vigilant when operating your vehicle in a parking lot. You never know when someone may walk out in front of you or a car suddenly pulls out from a parking space. Being especially cognizant in a parking lot could save a life and/or at least prevent a serious accident from occurring.
