A Suffolk, Virginia (VA) man named David Arthur Blutz lost his life after he was run over by a forklift. Mr. Blutz worked by McKinney’s Auto Parts on Philhower Drive, according to wvec.com.
Investigators suspect Mr. Blutz started the forklift, but it was already in gear and backed over him, according to The Virginian Pilot. He was only 35 years old.
My deepest condolences go out to Mr. Blutz’s family and friends. It is gut-wrenching to lose someone you care about in such a sudden, unexpected accident.
Unfortunately, forklift accidents are not uncommon. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration estimates there are roughly 85 forklift accident deaths per year, nearly 35,000 serious injuries and close to 62,000 non-serious injuries.
There are numerous questions surrounding the causes of the Suffolk forklift accident death. We’ll have to wait and see what the accident investigation reveals.
