Suspected DUI Crash Injures Two in Norfolk, VA | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Two people went to the hospital after the car in which they were riding slammed into a power pole alongside Newtown Road in Norfolk, Virginia (VA), just after midnight on March 26, 2012. Police believe the driver was drunk and speeding in the moments before the accident near the intersection with Greenwich Road, just past the I-264 overpass.

A suspected drunk driver wrecked on Newton Rod in Norfolk, VA, causing injuries to two people.

As the above video from WAVY-TV 10 shows, the car knocked down the pole and rolled over onto its roof. While details on the identity of the injured people or the severity of their injuries was not immediately available, at least one of the victims had to have been a passenger.

Police did not indicate whether they had filed charges for driving under the influence of alcohol or exceeding the 35 mph speed limit against the at-fault driver. Even if criminal proceedings are not begun, however, an injured passenger would almost definitely have grounds for filing claims for compensation for medical expenses, lost wages and other losses against the person who was behind the wheel. Consulting with an experienced Virginia personal injury attorney as soon as his or her health permits would help the person recover financially from this suspected DUI wreck.
