Three Women From Same Family Killed in North Carolina SUV Accident

Three generations of women from a New York City family died after their SUV flipped several times on I-95 in eastern North Carolina (NC) ,in August 2011, according to Reuters. The 22-year-old driver lost control of her Ford Expedition after the back right tire blew out. In addition to the driver, the woman's mother and grandmother also died.

The mother and grandmother were not wearing seat belts and were thrown from the car. Five other family members in the SUV were taken to a hospital with injuries.

This fatal accident reminds us to wear sea tbelts. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, wearing seat belts saves lives, decreasing serious injuries and deaths by about 50 percent.
