An Ohio truck driver died after he lost control of his truck in Washington County in Pennsylvania going around a curve on a bridge. His truck stalled in the middle of the road, and the driver got out and was killed by a second tractor trailer. The second truck slammed through the guardrail and barreled down the embankment and stopped in a creek below.
The interstate going westbound was closed for most of the day as workers cleared the wreckage. Traffic was backed up for 20 miles.
Neighbors stated that the curve in that bridge has caused many accidents over the years.
Our truck crash personal injury law firm has seen many cases where a truck accident leads to yet another truck accident, and often death and serious injury. In many cases, the trucks are simply driving too fast for conditions, as they are in a hurry to get their load to their destination on time.
There is nothing more important than driving safely, and all truck drivers have a higher obligation to drive their rigs in a safe manner.
This tragedy is a good reminder for all of us in most cases to stay in the vehicle in the event of an accident, unless we can safely get far off the roadway. You stand a better chance of surviving a collision if you are in the vehicle.
