The big rig driver was charged with three counts of death by auto after prosecutors showed that his big rig smashed into a Chevrolet Tahoe when he was making an illegal U-turn on Business Route 1 in PA.
A 25 year old woman and her two young children died in the crash, and two other children were injured. Police had to use a big wrecker and air bags to life the trailer off the SUV.
As truck accident personal injury lawyers, we have seen many truck accidents caused by truck driver carelessness. In a 2010 case, we obtained a $3.5 million settlement for a client who died when a big rig rear ended his car. He was in a car being driven slowly after a problem with a tire. We were able to show that the truck driver was violating Virginia truck safety rules. This led to a settlement in favor of our client’s family, including compensation for the children and health insurance benefits.
