A woman who allegedly caused a fatal DUI car accident in Lynchburg, Virginia, told police that she had been drinking for approximately nine hours before the crash took place on the morning of Saturday, April 21. She has been charged with two counts of manslaughter, as well as one count of driving under the influence.

The deadly Virginia car accident took place at just after two in the morning at the intersection of Timberlake Road and the entrance to The Legacy at Linden Park apartments in Lynchburg. The SUV, which one witness said was traveling at approximately 80 or 90 miles per hour in the seconds before the collision, struck the car as it was turning into the apartment complex.

Phillips told officers that she had drank two large light beers, as well as several mixed drinks throughout her evening. She was brought to the hospital for treatment and tests, which revealed that she had a blood alcohol level of 0.17 – more than twice the legal limit in Virginia. The drug tests also came out positive for cocaine and prescription drugs.

This week, Phillips was released on $50,000 bond with the direction to stop all drug and alcohol use and to submit to regular, random drug and alcohol screenings. She must also stay in Virginia and refrain from driving.
