Two Firefighters In Training Killed On US 221 In Marion, NC | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Two men on their way home from McDowell Fire & Rescue College were killed in a North Carolina car accident on US 221 last Sunday. According to N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper Thomas Brewer, 23-year-old Jeremy Gordon Bolick of Lenoir and 20-year-old Charles Thomas Wright of Blowing Rock were driving in Bolick’s Mustang when the driver lost control of the car and ran into a 2006 Chrysler.

The Chrysler contained Cynthia and Jeffrey Bassett, both 51. The couple suffered serious injuries and Jeffrey Bassett suffered a heart attack following the NC car accident. Both were rushed by emergency responders to Mission Hospital with multiple fractures and other injuries.

North Carolina Police say that Bolick was going an estimated 75 miles per hour in the 50 mph zone and that the roadway was slippery due to wet and rainy conditions. Both men were members of Blowing Rock Fire and Rescue in North Carolina.
