Two Killed in Taylorsville, NC SUV Accident | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

On February 10, 2012, two people were killed in a head-on collision between a car and their SUV on Millersville Road in Taylorsville, North Carolina (NC). According to WSOCTV 9, the 23-year-old driver of the car fell asleep behind the wheel while going to work at around 8 am and drifted into the path of the oncoming Toyota 4Runner in which a 75-year-old man and his 67-year-old woman were riding.

The married couple lost their lives, but the at-fault driver survived. Charges have not yet been filed.

My deepest condolences go out to the families of the victims. A good deal of what makes this fatal crash so upsettng is that it could have been prevented. Driving while drowsy can be just as dangerous and deadly as driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, especially if the driver actually falls asleep.

The families of the victims should consider contacting a North Carolina car accident attorney to discuss possibly filing a wrongful death suit. While receiving compensation for the death of loved ones will never make up for losing them, victims’ relatives are often entitled to monetary awards for loss of income, medical bills and emotional distress resulting from the accident.

To learn more, read this information provided by a North Carolina wrongful death attorney. It will provide some basic legal information regarding what to do after losing a loved one.
