Two men from Alexandria, Virginia (VA) were walking on the sidewalk of a strip mall in Bailey’s Crossroads when they were hit by car that left the roadway. This was in the 3800 block of South George Mason Drive.
One of the men was thrown to the ground and suffered injuries. The other man was pinned against a wall and suffered serious wounds and internal injuries.
A Fairfax County police officer that arrived at the scene applied a tourniquet on the man pinned against the wall and likely saved his life. The crash investigation is ongoing.
Our Virginia personal injury law firm does not yet know what caused the driver of the vehicle to suddenly veer from the roadway and strike these two innocent pedestrians. They may have been distracted by a cell phone or the car radio, or perhaps he suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel. We will have to wait and see what the investigation reveals.
In many instances, pedestrians who are struck by vehicles usually suffer serious or even fatal injuries. That is why it’s recommended pedestrians hurt in these types of preventable accidents speak to an experienced Virginia personal injury attorney. Restitution for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering may be pursued on your behalf.
Our firm understands how these claims work. For example, in a recent case, we represented a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle and was knocked out. He woke up in the hospital with numerous medical bills and injuries. We were able to achieve a resolution to the case that pleased our client.
