Two teens were killed in a car crash that occurred on City Lake Road near Pilgrim Church Road, in Lexington, N.C. Two other teens were injured in the crash. All four people in the car were students at North Davidson High School and were driving home from school when the fatal accident happened.
The two dead victims, an 18 year-old boy from Lexington and 15 year-old girl from Winston-Salem, were in the back seat of the 1988 Toyota. According to police reports, the Toyota was traveling east on City Lake Road near Pilgrim United Church Road near Lexington. The 16 year-old driver, from Clemmons, lost control of the vehicle at a curve in the road and the car flipped over several times before smashing into several trees.
The young female victim was thrown from the car. Both she and the other dead victim were killed instantly. The driver and front-seat passenger, a 17 year-old from Winston-Salem, were both air-lifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where they were listed in critical but stable condition.
Police say the crash is still under investigation and no charges have been filed yet. They do say that speed was a definite factor; however, there was no evidence of drugs or alcohol being involved.
