VA Man Killed in Chesapeake SUV Wreck | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

One man was killed and another was taken to a hospital on August 19, 2011, after police responded to a crash on Johnstown Road in Chesapeake, Virginia (VA), at 3:15 am. According to the Virginian-Pilot, the men were in a Durango that ran off the road and collided with a tree near Elaine Street.

Due to distracted driving, speeding and people getting behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, traffic accidents happen every day and disrupt or end people’s lives. In addition to injuries and deaths, SUV wrecks cause financial distress from medical expenses and lost earnings.

Generally, accidents happen when a driver does not take the actions expected of a reasonably prudent person. This can constitute negligence or recklessness, and an injured party should, with the help of a personal injury attorney, write down what he or she was doing at the time of the accident, where they were going, the people with them, the time and weather, shocks to the body and anything anyone said. These notes will be invaluable to an injury lawyer seeking to obtain the maximum monetary compensation for bodily injuries.
