Virginia Personal Injury Lawyer Perspective:

Nearly 4,300 pedestrians were killed by passing vehicles in the US in 2010, with more than 70,000 reported pedestrian injuries. Both drivers and pedestrians can reduce the chances of a serious accident by following some simple tips:

  •   Drivers must yield the right of way to pedestrians as they are crossing the street on marked or unmarked crosswalks in the vast majority of situations. Drivers must be very careful at intersections; failure to yield right away happens often when drivers are turning onto a street and a pedestrian is crossing.
  • Pedestrians should cross at a designated crosswalk, and should not walk along busy highways.
  • Pedestrians should try to increase their visibility by carrying a flashlight and by wearing bright colored clothing.
  •  Try to walk on a sidewalk if you can, but if you cannot, always walk facing traffic.

If you or a loved one was walking near a street and was hit by a car, it is a wise idea to find a strong personal injury lawyer in Virginia with a strong history of winning settlements in such cases.  You deserve the best possible legal representation, and an opportunity to obtain financial compensation for your injuries.

We hope that the pedestrian in this case recovers quickly from his injuries.
