Vehicle Malfunction May Have Caused Accident in Ocean Lakes | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

A vehicle malfunction was the root of an accident that took place in Ocean Lakes, according to WMBF News. The driver lost control of their 2012 Dodge minivan and struck a 10-year-old boy on a bicycle before hitting two cars that were parked and finally a mobile home.

The driver of the minivan, along with the boy and the sole occupant of the mobile home, were all taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center where they were treated for injuries.

Because the accident is the result of a vehicle malfunction, no charges are currently pending against the driver, a 62-year-old woman. We do not know the exact malfunction at this time. Was it the brakes? The steering column? We will have to wait and see what the accident investigation reveals.

The victims in this accident should speak with a personal injury lawyer to determine their legal options against Dodge for the vehicle malfunction. If it was a malfunction the car company negligently overlooked when manufacturing the vehicle, the victims may be able to recover damages for their medical expenses, any loss in their quality of life, and other damages.
