Catastrophic Injuries

Although any type of injury can wreak both physical and financial havoc on a victim’s life, catastrophic injuries typically leave the victim with long-term or permanent disabilities. These types of injuries often leave a victim and their family struggling with overwhelming stress and financial difficulties. Not only is it common for victims of catastrophic injuries to not be able to do the type of work they did before they were injured, many victims are unable to perform everyday life activities that severely impact their quality of life. Depending on the extent of the injury, the victim may need assistance or supervision and often face a lifetime of medical and rehabilitation expenses.

There are many different types of catastrophic injuries a victim can suffer. Some of the more common cases that our North Carolina injury attorneys have handled include:

  • Brain injuries;
  • Burn injuries;
  • Dismemberment or amputation;
  • Eye injuries;
  • Multiple fractures or limb injuries; and
  • Spinal cord injuries.

Although many types of accidents can leave victims with catastrophic injuries, the most common include motorcycle and truck accidents.

Motorcycles offer no protection to riders when they are hit by another vehicle, such as this accident in Southmont. For victims of truck accidents, the sheer size and weight of these massive vehicles can crush even a regular 4,000-pound vehicle, offering occupants inside little to no protection.
