Virginia Man Struck and Killed by Car, Pedestrians Walk by Victim | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

What Happened:

A pedestrian was crossing Columbia Pike at Four Mile Run Drive in Arlington, VA when he was hit by a car on July 1, 2012. Unfortunately, he did not survive the car accident. Often, when pedestrians are hit by cars, the responsible driver flees the scene. This was not the case in this crash, as the driver who struck the pedestrian remained at the scene.

Instead, it was the passersby that were uncaring, as a number of people walked right by the victim lying on the sidewalk. Police have released a video of the people walking by in the hope that one or more of them will come forward and give their version of what happened in the car accident.

The Virginia Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

The police who released this video are not looking to place blame on anyone on it, they are simply looking for answers. Someone caught on tape may have information that can help them with their investigation. Having a better understanding of how the car wreck occurred will help police determine if charges should be filed and may help give the pedestrian’s grieving family some closure.
