Police said 39 students were on the bus accident when the wreck occurred around 8:15 am on May 23, 2012. Thirteen of the children went to hospitals with injuries.

The bus driver claimed she was distracted by a student and missed a turn in the road. The bus ended up overturned in a ditch on the side of the road. The driver, who was slightly injured, has been charged with reckless driving.

A parent whose children could ride the bus that crashed said her young ones are afraid to do so because the driver goes too fast and does not pay attention. The parent has supposedly filed complaints against this driver with the school but she continued to drive. Since the accident she has been placed on administrative leave.

If this parent’s accusations are true, the schools involved could be held partially liable. They have a responsibility to provide safe transportation to and from school. If your child was injured in this bus accident, or in a similar accident, contact a Virginia personal injury attorney to determine what steps need to be taken to make sure the proper people are held accountable.
