Wreck on Parkersburg Turnpike in Augusta County Leads to Two Deaths | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Gaylon W. Adkins and Roy J. Jackson (WHSV3.com, 09-27-13) were traveling down Route 254 in Augusta County, Virginia (VA) when their lives came to a tragic and abrupt end. A cattle truck crossed the centerline and slammed into Mr. Adkins’ vehicle, a Chevrolet Cavalier. Both Mr. Adkins and his passenger, Mr. Jackson, died at the scene of the crash.  Our deepest condolences go out to the families of Mr. Adkins and Mr. Jackson. Losing a loved one is always difficult, but the pain is made even worse when the loved one is taken from you in a sudden and unexpected manner. The horrific wreck occurred on Route 254 near the intersection of Route 42. The cause of the accident remains unknown, as of the date of this posting. The Appomattox Division Accident Investigation Team and Motor Carrier Safety Team are investigating the scene of the wreck. It’s an unfortunate reality – when a large vehicle like a cattle truck is operated recklessly and crashes into a smaller vehicle like an SUV or car, the smaller vehicle usually bears the brunt of the damage. This wreck is a tragic example.
