Young Man Killed in Greenville Hit and Run Accident | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

What Happened:

A young man in Greenville, North Carolina (NC) went for a walk to clear his head. He was new to the area and got lost during his walk. A series of phone calls to his parents yielded no results in determining his location. Tragically, at some point during the night, he was hit by a car on Highway 33 West. The next morning, his body was found in a ditch, according to WNCT. A reward is being offered for the location and the subsequent arrest of the person who hit the young man.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the victim’s parents. The parents told reporters that their son had aspirations to become a sportscaster. Sadly, those dreams will not come to fruition and his parents are stricken with the pain and anguish of having to bury their child.

Authorities are still searching for the at-fault hit and run driver. The car in question is assumed to be an older grey Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge vehicle.

The North Carolina Injury Lawyer’s Perspective:

Hitting a pedestrian is terrible; leaving them at the scene of the accident to try and avoid punishment is deplorable and illegal.

The victim’s family probably should consider speaking to a North Carolina wrongful death lawyer since they probably have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim against the at-fault hit and run driver, if/when they are apprehended.
