Rick Shapiro, a railroad/FELA lawyer in Virginia, published an article exposing the big lie that many railroads tell juries across the country. The big lie concerns asbestos on diesel engines. Railroads routinely tell juries that locomotive freight engines did not have dangerous asbestos on board. It was finally revealed that this is a complete falsehood and many railroad workers (i.e. switchmen, conductors, engineers, etc.) have had their lives turned upside down because they breathed in asbestos fibers. Those fibers got lodged into their lungs and led to mesothelioma.
