Chapmanville Man Dies In Motorcycle Accident | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

According to the Associated Press, a 21-year-old Chapmanville man was killed in a motorcycle highway accident in West Virginia this week.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Department, which is investigating the fatal accident, reported that the collision took place on Route 10 late on Monday afternoon when a car approaching the motorcycle lost control, drifted over the double yellow centerline and swerved into the bike’s path.

Killed in the accident was Cory Price, the son of Chapmanville Mayor Jerry Price. Cory Price, who was called “Bird” by friends, worked at the Logan Fire Department, the Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Department, and took classes at the Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College. He was also a trained EMT who worked with the Logan County Ambulance Authority. Friends and family confirm that the young man was a dedicated community servant who enjoyed helping others above all else.

The oncoming car, a Plymoth Neon, was driven by West Virginia resident Thomas Lee Dillion. It is unclear what caused Dillion to lose control of his car.

Price was rushed by emergency responders to Saint Mary’s Medical Center for treatment, but he was soon pronounced dead. It is not known if Price was wearing a motorcycle helmet or if the occupant of the other vehicle was injured in the collision.
