Firm FELA Lawyer Named Secretary and Newsletter Editor of Major Railroad Group | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Firm FELA lawyer Rick Shapiro was named secretary and newsletter editor for the Railroad Law Section of the American Association of Justice. Section members promote the safety of the public and railroad employees through crossing accident and FELA litigation, as well as regulatory and legislative advocacy. This section covers the full gamut of railroad litigation including rail worker injuries, occupational illnesses from exposure to asbestos and diesel exhaust fumes, derailments, collisions, and crossing accidents.

According to the AAJ Railroad Law Section bylaws, the secretary shall be the custodian of all books, papers, documents and other property of the section, subject to the general supervision of the chair of the section and the secretary of AAJ.

Rick has been practicing personal injury law and representing railroad workers who suffered serious injuries for more than 20 years. His success in this area of law probably played a role in his nomination to this prestigious leadership position within the Railroad Law Section.
