I-95 Truck Accident In Dunn Leave Girl Dead On Christmas Day | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Rainy roads and slick conditions caused a number of Christmas Day accidents on Interstate 95, including a fatal truck accident that left one 6-year-old dead and a family injured. The accident took place at 1 pm near Pope Road in Dunn.

North Carolina Police said that a minivan traveling near the Exit 72 in Dunn, NC, lost control while passing a tractor-trailer. The car slammed into the truck’s side, hit the guardrail, struck the truck again, and then flipped over in the roadway. The minivan was carrying the Greise family, who was returning from a week-long vacation in Disney World. The father, mother, aunt, uncle, 15-year-old and 11-year-old all suffered minor injuries in the crash while 6-year-old Taryn Greise was pronounced dead at the scene of the truck accident.

NC Police say that the little girl was not properly restrained in the car at the time of the accident and that the driver of the SUV and the girl’s father may face charges after the truck accident investigation is concluded. The mother of the little girl had to be restrained at the scene of the accident. The family had lost another baby in a house fire seven years ago.

Two other tractor-trailer accidents occurred on the same stretch of I-95 on the same rainy day. One of the accidents, in which a truck ran off of the road in the northbound lanes, may have been related to the traffic buildup caused by the first accident.
