Jefferson County, WV, Car Accident Kills One, Critically Injures Another | Shapiro, Washburn & Sharp

Two Inwood, WV, residents were involved in a West Virginia car accident in Jefferson County on the morning of September 30, 2011. The one-vehicle crash resulted in the death of the driver and the serious injury of the passenger.

According to West Virginia State Police and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, 40-year-old April Roberts was driving on Leetown Road near the intersection of West Virginia Highway 51 and Middleway when she apparently lost control of her vehicle and drove off of the road and into a utility pole and tree. Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, while her passenger, 39-year-old Jack Spindle was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia by medical helicopter in critical condition.

The WV car accident is being investigated by both state police and the county. Currently, officials do not know what caused the driver to lose control of her car and what factors might have been involved in the wreck.

EMS personnel from Jefferson County and Fire Department emergency responders from Independent and Middleway all responded to the accident scene.
